I couldn’t be more excited that summer is just around the corner! We’ve had a long winter (and spring) up here in the Pacific Northwest – one that’s been full of winter boots, puffy coats and lots of scarves. And while I’m normally excited to pull out the sunglasses and sandals anyway, this year I just can’t wait any longer – especially with some of the new summer fashion trends. Thought I’d share what I’m digging so you’re ready when summer finally decides to roll on in.
Oh and a big thanks to Abigail who I bribed to be my model. Let’s be honest, she looks much better in these than I would anyway.
DENIM SKIRTS
You know you’re old when the styles you wore when you were little have made a comeback. Well friends, this has now happened to me. I’d like to reintroduce you to the denim skirt. But I can’t say I’m sad about its return.
ONE PIECE SWIMSUITS
While the tan may not be quite as good, the comfort sure is. One piece swim suits are back and they’re cuter than they’ve ever been! I’m a fan of the ones with words on them, but if you’re not, don’t worry – they come in lots of cute patterns and cuts. From ones with cut outs and plunging neck lines to others with low backs and bright colors, I’m sure you’ll be able to find one you like. I snagged this one from Target. Shop the look here.
*Don’t mind the hot tub. Like I said, summer still hasn’t arrived in the Pacific Northwest.
FUZZY SLIDE SANDALS
You guys, I’m obsessed. Tell me who wouldn’t want comfortable slip on sandals that have fur on them? I certainly can’t think of anyone. I recently purchased a pair and am already considering which color I’ll order next. Brands like Nordstrom, Free People, and even Forever 21 are carrying them. I happened to go with the pair below from Urban Outfitters. But, no matter which you choose, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.
BELL SLEEVES
Bell sleeves may be my favorite summer trend. I have multiple dresses and shirts already in this style and can’t wait to add more to my wardrobe. I love that they add a bit of femininity to your everyday shirt or dress, but do so in the simplest of ways. I’m probably way too excited about the new dress I just bought from VICI that Abigail is wearing below. I wore it to an event this weekend and paired it with a bright pump! It was super comfortable, yet sophisticated enough for a cocktail dress event.
OFF-THE-SHOULDER TOPS
I can’t get enough of the off-the-shoulder tops (and dresses). They’re fun, flirty, and cooler for summer. Again, I think they take your everyday blouse and make it a bit more feminine. You can also dress them up with jeans and heels or pair them with some shorts and sandals for something a bit more casual. The possibilities are endless. Hence, my closet is full of them for this summer.
SUMMER NECK SCARVES
You’d think I’d be over scarves after this very long winter, but I must say I’m digging the neck scarves that are trending this summer. They come in all different patterns and add just the slightest bit of color to your summer wardrobe. Pair it with a t-shirt and jeans or your favorite dress for work. You’re set for inside the office and out. What more could you ask for?
Now all we have to do is wait for that sun to make its grand arrival. Happy shopping, friends!
Cheers,
Hayley
