It is travel week for the Glam Girls! We are headed to New York City! One thing about us is that we LOVE TO EAT! We are so excited for all the yummy places we get to try. Our restaurant list is bigger than our sight seeing list. Haha! But, we like to do everything in moderation. That means, eating healthy snacks to keep us fueled and not excessively eating while away.
We love to pack healthy snacks in our carry ons and suitcase. Since we will be in a hotel, we are more limited to the items we selected, but see below for our hotel-friendly-fit-in-your-satchel-healthy-yet-tasty-snacks.
You can find these snacks at your local natural grocers, or gluten free sugar free section of the store.
PB2 is our absolutely favorite spread. It is powder based and all you have to do is add water. It tastes just like peanut butter minus that FAT< SUGAR< CORN SYRUP AND CALORIES! It is easy to pack because it is light weight and you can get water anywhere! We love to dip fruit, rice cakes, pretzels, and other bite size snacks into it. We can put it into a small cup and add some water from our hotel room.
Gluten free rice cakes have become a staple for us. We eat them everyday. They make for the best post workout snack, as well as fill your belly up. We have it paired with PB2 or with Justin’s Peanut Butter. We have never tried the on the go packet, but are excited to try this all natural peanut butter!
We just love granola. We typically make it from scratch without all the sugar, oil and fats, but since we leave so soon, we picked up with GF low sugar granola. We are not big breakfast eaters, so we look forward to getting some almond milk from a coffee shop nearby and adding the Natural granola to it for an inexpensive, easy, and healthy breakfast that will keep us full!
Instead of grabbing a local hot dog, bagel, pretzel, etc, we find it important to pack some crackers in our purse so we aren’t tempted to buy something off the street when we get hungry. We want to save our tastebuds for main meals, so these crackers are perfect when we start to feel hungry. It is important to eat when you are hungry, and now we know we will not wander for horus looking for a quick fix snack (yes this happened to us in Paris…!)
Ashley has a sweet tooth, so she is always want to make everything taste like cookies or candy. To satisfy that need, she brings Stevia with her to add to her water, drip coffee, oatmeal, almond milk, etc. It fits perfectly in her purse and keeps her from eating SUGAR!
There you have it. Our inside scoop to packing snacks while on vacation. Yes you could always go to the store once arriving to your destination, but it can be hard to find the right items and lug them back to your hotel. Make it easy on yourself and bring it with you! It lessens the stress and holds you accountable to keep up your healthy lifestyle while away!
