If you know us Graham girls, you know we LOVE Ed Sheeran. Which is why Ash and I made the 6+ hour drive to Portland recently for an evening with Ed.
Since we’ve been to Portland before, we weren’t as focused on seeing the sights. Instead, we wanted to focus on the experience which is why we opted for a boutique hotel in the Pearl District. And let us just say, we’re so glad we did!
While doing some research, we came across Hotel deLuxe. When we realized it was located in the Pearl District, just a 5-minute car ride from the concert venue, and no more than $15 more than other chain hotels in the city, we just couldn’t say no. Not to mention, the decor is inspired by classic Hollywood style – true glam at its finest. From the Rolls Royce parked out front to the free room upgrade and the pillow menu (one of each please!) to the yummy late night post-concert snack, we received true Hollywood star service.
When we weren’t at the concert, we actually spent most of our time in the room because it was just too chic (can you blame us?!). However, we did manage to sneak out to stock up on treats for the night at Whole Foods (our literal fav). But of course – per usual Graham girl style – we got sucked into the cute little Pearl District shops and restaurants (we stumbled upon Pearl Tavern and the best stumble it was) on our way back to the hotel. Dinner, a few drinks and some trinkets later, we made it back to the hotel to get ready for the concert. I mean Ed was waiting for us after all so we couldn’t be late.
As you’d expect, Ed sang his little heart out. We laughed, we cried, we sang, and annoyed all the people around us. But hey when you buy the cheapest tickets possible and move to the second row, the worst they can do is tell you to leave (seriously, it works like a charm). After all, we had seats waiting elsewhere should we need them.
The next morning, we slept in (easy to do with every kind of pillow under the sun), grabbed some grub at Whole Foods (I told you we are obsessed), stopped by Voodoo Doughnut because what’s a trip to Portland without it, and hit the road. It was a quick trip, but one we thoroughly enjoyed.
So, what’s the moral of the story? Next time you head to Portland, opt for the boutique hotel. We’re confident you won’t regret it!
Xoxo,
Hayley and Ashley
