Nothing beats escaping the cold and gloomy winter days in the PNW than jumping on a plane to Palm Desert! A yearly tradition started by our parents that led to bringing the kids along for sun, golf, pool time and high end cuisine. While Hayley and Abigail enjoy this vaycay just as much as myself, we tend to break off for our own activities. While we might be the youngest bunch around, you learn to appreciate old men with that beautiful white hair, a dirty sense of humor with wayyyyyy too much money in their pockets. Here is my guide to surviving in the DESERT as a 20 something year old and loving it!
Take Advantage of Breakfast with a View
Start your morning off right with an Illy coffee in hand, the birds chirping and the sun on your face. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day they say, so take advantage and spend a little extra time enjoying the view.
Spend Most of the Day by the Pool
Nothing beats laying in 80 degree weather, sipping a cocktail and reading! Sign me up. The La Quinta Mountain Resort hooked us up with endless beverages, great service and enough snacks we didn’t even have to fight over them.
Wine and Dine.. or.. I Mean Cocktail and Dine
Who doesn’t love getting cute and eating delicious food? One thing I can guarantee is that you will never have to worry about bad food in the Desert! Yes, the older you get your taste buds aren’t as vibrant, but trust me, you will be thinking about your meal all day. If you get cute enough, you could even score a few drinks from the old man at the bar. Young girls is a rare sight to see down there, so be warned!
Appreciate the Pretty Scenery
While you may think the desert is dry and sparse, you will be shocked at how green and luscious it is! Never have I seen such manicured landscape. Everywhere you walk is picture perfect. You don’t even have to be on the golf course to enjoy the beauty.
Day Trip to Disneyland
Disneyland is definitely the happiest place on Earth. I believe that whole heartedly! What is amazing about La Quinta Mountain Resort is that they have Enterprise Car Rental right there in the lobby. It made it easy for us to rent a car for the day and cruise on down to the Magical Kingdom! It was a little under two hour drive therefore, when you leave at 9:00am you miss the rush hour traffic and can be inside the park one hour after it opens. Definitely worth the day trip!
Eat at In N Out
